  • Represented an electrical contractor that completed work on public street intersections, but did not receive payment for its work. The client's claim in district court against the general contractor and a municipality for failure to ensure payment to the client was initially dismissed on technical grounds. The Minnesota Court of Appeals reversed the trial court and allowed the client to pursue its claims. Collins Electrical Systems, Inc. v. Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc.,  No. A07-675 (Minn. App. 2008)

    Represented a real estate developer who was convicted of a criminal violation of the Minnesota Building Code. This case centered on the responsible corporate officer doctrine, a sophisticated legal issue involving individual criminal liability of corporate officers. The Minnesota Supreme Court reversed the conviction. State of Minnesota v. Arkell, No. C1-02-856 (Minn. 2003)
